For the very first time ever, an artificial intelligence (AI) system has written the script for an advertisement. Written by IBM’s Watson system, the advertisement was for a Lexus ES executive sedan.
The system, in collaboration with multiple advertising agencies, was given 15 years of footage involving brand campaigns for car launches. Using this data, Watson gained the parameters of a good commercial. Provided with the AI-generated script and outline, the advertising agencies carved out a story.
The advertisement, directed by Oscar-winning director Kevin MacDonald, observes a Lexus master craftsmen who painstakingly designs the car before it has to be crash tested. The car’s automatic emergency braking system kicks in, and saves the car from being disfigured in the campaign set to be launched across Europe.
